I'm a real fan of 'The Repair Shop'. They have some amazing stories and do great job bring back old and broken treasures back to life.

Re: Wasp Removal No Kill Way

Hi Graham - see my recent post here - http://www.downthelane.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=57271 Wasps can be a worry in sheds and garages but if left to their own devices aren't usually a menace. Incorrectly, people think that the numbers of wasps increase in the autumn but the reality is the was...

Re: Bees and Wasps

I did get a local man in to remove them, as they terrified me. I must admit I'm not the greatest fan of wasps. I certainly have had more wasp stings than bee stings, even though I keep bees. That said, I know they do a great job catching garden pests - it is estimated that each summer, social wasps...

Bees and Wasps

There's been a few posts lately on our local Facebook group about who to get in to remove bees and wasps, and generally people seem pretty uninformed about bees and wasps. So I thought I'd put together my take on what is/isn't a problem. First wasps. Now these generally aren't a problem to us humans...

Anyone her had success with 'bug hotels'?

I built my first bug hotel this morning but not sure what to expect. Unlike the garden in our old house which was pretty wild, our new garden is very much suburban and is surrounded by other gardens that are in the main well clipped and neat. I am trying to encourage more bees, wasps, hoverflies and...

Strange isn't it? I know some people who had no side-effects with the first jab. All our immune systems and metabolisms are different.

Re: How many of you have had your second jab?

I had my second jab yesterday and unlike Wendy, I have had no side-effects.

Our daughter and son-in-law had their first jabs this week. Andy was fine but Hannah was a bit rough last night.

I don't mow the top of our garden where our orchard is and it is full of primroses, bluebells and other wild stuff. It is also where I keep our bees so great for them too.

Eurovision - love it or loath it?

I must admit I'm a fan of the over the top spectacle Eurovision has become but I think Wendy can take it or leave it. I remember the time when all the singers sang with a live orchestra which was interesting from the point of view of identifying who realty could sing live. There's so much pre record...

Will you be hugging?

With the easing of restrictions, will you be hugging family, friends or perhaps even strangers? In reality, this shouldn't be about what the government says we can and can't do, but rather at a personal level how confident we can be given what we are told about rates of infections, effectiveness of ...

Rick Stein's India

Just started to watch the whole series again as first time round only watched one or two. The book that goes with the series is Rick Stein's India - In Search of the Perfect Curry. 'Curry' is a foreign concept in India as virtually no one uses the expression. Rather than curry, they would say gravy,...

Re: How many of you have had your second jab?

I see from the news that this new 'Indian' variant seems to be more transmittable. Hopefully, the current vaccine will still protect against it.

Re: How many of you have had your second jab?

Wendy is a lot better today, back normal really. So fortunately looks like the side-effects last about a day, which is good as I have my second jab in a couple of weeks.
