Re: LL's Gardening Diary

This year both my strawberry bed and rasps have failed. The gardener who comes to do jobs neither I nor my sons can, is coming to strim the whole former vegetable area, leaving some of the self seeded plants alone. At the weekend one of my sons emptied my planters with dead plants into the compost b...

Re: Lucas

My post should have read "you have to tread very carefully" - not treat!

Re: Lucas

My previous sheltie brought "offerings" into the house on odd occasions! You have to treat very carefully. Lucas sounds a real character LL.

Re: Downton Abbey, complete series

My original box set contained a fault in one of the discs, which kept returning to earlier in the recording. Am....on replace it, only to find the same thing with the replacement set. After contacting them, and finally getting a phone call, they agreed to send me that series, which is number five. I...

Re: Escape to the Chateau

I have watched a few programmes of The Repair Shop, Michael. Some amazing talent on there, also.

Downton Abbey, complete series

As a self indulgent treat during my convalescence, I ordered the box set of Downton Abbey. I had series one and two, but priced individual series up, and the box set was cheaper in the long run. How I am enjoying the timelessness of it. The beautiful costumes and hairstyles, the put me downs, the pl...

Escape to the Chateau

I love this couple and their amazing versatility.

Last night Angel restored and gave advice on a doll's house, which brought back memories for me. When I branched out from home at twenty one, my doll's house and all my dolls were given to a local childrens' home, but I spent hours with them.

Re: Films on You Tube

Yes Sandy, I do get Drama, in fact I watch more Freeview than the standard programmes. Some things I plan to watch on BBC, ITV, etc are not aired until nine in the evening, and I invariably end up asleep before the end.

Re: Back home.

Thank you everyone. The stockings are miserable, and the MacMillan nurse told me that I will have to endure them for at least another four weeks. My wound has not completely healed, which is disappointing, the assortment of District Nurses come to give me a daily injection, some say one thing, some ...

Re: Back home.

Thank you Mo and Ilona. I would sit outside in this glorious sunshine but for the fact that I am sporting white stockings, and I will be unable to get onto and off the sun lounger!!

Back home.

Back home, thank goodness. Had to make two trips to A & E following discharge though, and rather a rocky start to recovery.

Hope everyone on the Lane is doing well.

Re: How does your garden grow?

Not heard the term "rewilding". I certainly do not wish that to happen to my garden, apart from a small wild area under the plum and apple trees, where I have hyacinths, primroses, cowslips, ox eye daisies, aconites and ragged robin. We planted all of the flowers several years ago. My rasps are litt...

Re: How does your garden grow?

The man who does larger jobs for me came a couple of days since. I have written about this on DTL Daily, however, he tackled the unresponsive flower bed, strimming the patchy grass down, and using topsoil and lawn sand to try and improve it. After much raking and tamping down, he finally sowed grass...

Re: Bees and Wasps

Thank you for the information, Michael. Last year I had a bees nest and a wasps nest in the roof of the workshop. I did get a local man in to remove them, as they terrified me. I am hoping that they will not return, as you indicated.

Films on You Tube

There is little to interest me on the TV at present. Tonight there are two programmes, but I am not a sports lover, nor a serial lover, so my choice is limited. I do enjoy the recent spate of programmes about the Royal Family, although some are repeats. Therefore I trawl You Tube to find something r...
