All is well.

Just dropping by to say hello and after two years Kylie, Betty and Maggie are still in good health and laying well. Deciding to keep chickens was probably one of the best moves we made. Hoping everyone is well and the best of good fortune and luck to newcomers.

Home brew beer for Xmas

...... and it's pub quality. Woodefordes Wherry Real Ale Kit. I've brewed a few kits over the years but this one has to be the best bitter kit I've done to date. It's a two can all malt kit needing only a small amount of sugar for priming and I'm now on my second batch of this brew. The best bit.......

Re: 1st time broody.....

All I can suggest is to persevere with her, keep chucking her out as and when you can. Our Maggie was broody for almost two months eating very little and sporting an evil temper to match. We kept forcing her to "mingle" with the others and giving her morsels as often as we could. She's fin...

A whole year has passed.

During last week we passed the first anniversary of Chris and myself being Chicken keepers. At the very beginning of september 2011 we came home with Betty, Kylie and Maggie and introduced them to the ark with run that I had constructed over that summer. During the past year the birds have been in g...

Our new family member.

Since losing Norman our old tom to renal failure (he was 15 years old), we have taken the commitment to share our home with a new little life who will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. His name is Zak and although he looks as if "Butter wouldn't melt", I can guarantee that he will have us both awak...

Another 1st class piece of work Shrek. You really are talented. )t'

(that was your quotation)

...... If this is the quality of your efforts, believe me, this truly humbles my metalwork. Bravo.

Kylie the Bluebelle is in overdrive.

Kylie has laid an egg every day for the past 51 days

This may sound daft but we are a little concerned for her.

Wind Vane No2

I hope that you all like this latest effort. Again this is bespoke with not another like it, this one measures 58" tall with a span of 39" and the weight is almost 30lb. It's taken a couple of weeks worth of evenings and fettling and painting still need to be done. http://i445.photobucket....

Re: My latest efforts (wind vane).

Nice piece of work, well done you. Can I please be as bold as to ask where you source your decorative bits from please, the arrow point in particular; purely by coincidence my father is a bit of an iron-work hobbyist and was asking me the other day if I knew of any places that did these sort of thi...
