Re: Slow Cooker Question

Did braising steak and onions in mine the other day and that was lovely too. Just onions dry fried a bit cos of the diet before I put them in, floured steak, an oxo cube and water. Was really nice.

Re: Dave Clark Five Documentary

Watched this and was talking to someone at work about it today - like you I had no idea they were so famous in America .. they always looked a bit too clean and smiley for me! Good programme though, he was obviously a very astute businessman even in the early days.

It does save money when you plan all your meals for the week - being organised does help with losing weight and saving money as well!

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

I'm a bit slilmmer now Kate but I've only lost about 10lbs since then. I had to maintain my weight for 3 months as part of the weight loss thing I'm doing (just to prove I could do it because most people always put the weight back on) :-D

Re: Slow Cooker Question

I do tend (if I have time) to sling everything in a pan first and cook it a wee bit before transferring it to the slow cooker - just seems to make it a bit more appetising if you brown stuff off a bit first. I must say I've used my slow cooker a lot this year and it's been a bit of a revelation. Gre...

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

TBH I still know I'll have to have a knee replacement some time soon so it's been a really good motivator. My brother has been doing the same thing for a couple of years now and he's lost ten stone!! However he goes running a lot now which I think really helps and men can just eat more! I cant let h...

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Just thought I'd jump in with my progress as I've been doing this healthy eating lark for getting on for a year now. No calorie counting or any of that - just healthy eating - healthy plate - half veg/salad/1/4 protein/1/4 carb is really the basis of it - been doing a lot more home cooking - the slo...

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Hello everyone - I've not been around for ages - life has kind of got in the way recently - just to say I'm scared of getting on the scales and depressing myself after Christmas - anyway I'm back on the straight and narrow from yesterday - I AM NOT GOING TO UNDO MY GOOD WORK from last year. I want t...

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Not posted on this thread for a wee while - just to let you know the programme I'm on I now have to maintain for 3 months before I start losing weight again. The idea is to learn how to maintain so I dont put it all back on again. Going ok - although it does make you think - I find it harder to main...

Re: Latest crochet project

Got to admit I tend to go just into one loop when I start - I cant tell the difference tbh. I'm going to wear this to yarndale .... kateegg ... if you see me say hello! Unless its boiling hot of course which isn't looking likely today. http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd514/julie283/P1010408_zps7...

Re: Latest crochet project

I'm off to Yarndale at weekend too ... very excited ... really enjoyed it last year and spent a fortune! The ripple is a bit difficult at first but once you get past the first few rows its easy peasy - it's just getting the hills and valleys right at the beginning - then you've got the pattern memor...

Latest crochet project

Just thought I'd share with you crocheteers. This is a ripple blanket I've just finished - it's the Lucy coastal ripple blanket in stylecraft dk. Yarn cost £25 which is pretty reasonable - lovely acrylic yarn. The cost in wool would be too much! http://i1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd514/julie283/P10...
