You can get a liquid children's vitamins without iron which is a lot easier to administer. Also when you give them calcium boosts (you mentioned fish etc) to help with re-feathering during the moult, give them flax, watermelon or sesame seeds too. These all contain phosphorus which helps break down ...

Seemed to be very hit and miss, even in the same county. Up here in Yorkshire it's been raining since yesterday (my chickens are not best pleased) and is very breezy on the coast.

I think the most important thing is that they have access to food before they go to bed, so that they have a full crop. It's probably the action of digesting that helps keep them warm. Having said that, I've also heard that corn helps keep them warm, but I imagine it's the digestive process in that ...

I use pottery dog dishes for my flock's water and I've only ever wiped them clean, rinsed with fresh water and then filled them up. In the 5 years I've had chickens, this routine has never affected their health.

Just did a quick search and you can get it sent to you on both Amazon (who offer a next day delivery service) and Ebay. Maybe that's an option worth considering.
