Re: French Drain

The best fabric to use is landscaping fabric, or what is known in construction as "terrain"
As long as it is reasonable sturdy, and permeable. It's ok.

Re: Eeek - spend some to save some?

These days, I never buy meat from supermarkets. You get the worst cuts. I always buy from my local butcher, whenever I can. They are a little more expensive (not much) but quality is superb. If I buy a joint of beef, he will cut the fat off before weighing it, and then give me the beef fat for nothi...

For all the guys on here

Just a little money saving tip, for the men on here.
Shaving! For many years, I have used foam or bought shaving oil.
I now use extra virgin olive oil for shaving. You can buy a big bottle for a couple of quid and it lasts ages, also, it gives me the closest shave I have ever had.

Re: Running to get fit

I saw a report the other day saying that joggists of Middle Age and upwards were costing the NHS a fortune by needing their worn out joints replacing. Dom Well, that just sounds like a bit of an excuse to me and it isn't going to cost as much over time as trying to minimise the effects of all the h...

Re: Pallets-where can I find them?

About fifteen years ago, I worked on a farm that produced. and packed potatoes for supermarkets.
We used to get dozens of out sized pallets to scrap. There was a guy there who would take two or three pallets at a time home, and make good money, making garden furniture.
Just a thought.

Am about to embark on a shed building project. After moving in, eighteen months ago, have completed decorating throughout the house I have a rickety minuscule shed at the bottom of the garden, also a small shared building at the side. The house is ex council, that has been beautifully re-bricked. I ...

Re: What dog food?

Thanks for all your advice. It is much appreciated. Don't hold out much hope, unless my Bonnie gets a bad upset stomach. Even when she does, my wife gives her rice and vegetable. Food wise, she costs us a little over £25 a month; which given her size is good. I would gladly pay £75 a month. But hey,...

Re: Oak sapling

Thanks for your advice.
Have successfully replanted it, at the bottom of my garden.
Not bothered how big it gets, it won't ever be my problem. It will be my kids problem.
Ho ho.
Thanks once again.

Oak sapling

Hi folks. Haven't been on here for awhile. I was in my back garden yesterday, and all of a sudden, I noticed an oak young sapling, just sprouted from the acorn. About 3 inches high with the recognisable oak leaf. It has begun to grow, in a large pot that houses a bay leaf tree. I am so thrilled. I w...

Re: Wish I hadn't started!

Have recently decorated from top to bottom, as we are moving. No mean feat seeing as we have a town house. Ground floor plus two higher floors. We have four bedrooms, Office, Bathroom, on suite shower, toilet shower downstairs, large living room and large kitchen, not to mention 100' by 25' garden. ...
