Tiny egg!

Yesturday my hubbie went to collect the eggs and found the smallest egg I have ever seen! I spent all evening worrying about the girls. And couldn't connect to the internet all last night! Phew what a relief, I managed to get onto the forum now to find out what was the cause of this tiny egg. You kn...

Re: in molt?

It must be our LS plucking again then. I have sudocreamed, Violet sprayed and anti fether peck sprayed today. Going to buy some more mealworms today and re started the poultry spice. If that dosn't work, i'm going to have to work out how to sperate the culprit and perhaps put her with our bluebell w...

in molt?

Hello everyone, Violet my columbian blacktail has some feathers missing from her wings. Our light sussex is a feather plucker, but I havn't seen her picking on Violet. Could she be going into a molt? Or do they molt only in the winter time? I've had all of the girls since November as Point-of-Lay. A...

Re: Herb Garden

The only plant the chickens managed to nibble before I put up the netting over the trellis was the pennyroyal. In the crescent shaped border is a mixture of wild flowers and herbs. The 4 willow planters are going to have veg planted in them. The only outstanding thing to do is to sort out the electr...

Herb Garden

After 3 days of hard work, we have finished our herb garden with a culinary herb spiral in the centre. Fingers crossed it's chicken proof. http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m604/Bristolbelle/DSC_0006-1.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m604/Bristolbelle/DSC_0005.jpg http://i1134.photobucket....

Re: Chickinitis.

I can't put a cup of tea down when the girls are free ranging. They all stick there heads into it. I forgot to let my OH know that the girls liked tea.... He soon found out when he tried to bring me out a mug the other day. Our Amber Star Lilly jumped onto his shoulder and tried to stick her head in...

Re: chicken proof garden plants

Fortunatly we replaced the lawn (well more weed than grass) a few years ago with chippings. The girls love digging huge holes in it when they free range and all I do when they are back in their Walk-in-Run is go around with a rake to level it back again. I hose it down on a reg basis as well. I used...

Re: chicken proof garden plants

Re: Can chickens see infrared CCTV lights?

I have my old baby monitor cctv cam in our coop and the monitor in the livingroom. Its on 24/7 with no problems. My Children say that I should set up a live feed to the internet and have "hen cam". Never know could be better than Big Brother! {rofwl} {rofwl}
