Re: I am sad

I agree too.
Believe me it is better like that than seeing them struggle by not being well .having lost a couple of my favourites lately ( old girls) it is better for it to happen with their friends around them than at the vets.

Re: Can I eat a chicken which died from unknown causes?

I have been reading these posts with interest and feel very strongly that you should never eat any thing that is at all suspect . Why would any one be so naive? There are of course chickens raised for eating by farmers and the farmers are not usually attached to the chickens they raise.the chickens ...

She was always there top and in charge . The three remaining girls seem a little lost it will be interesting to see who becomes t...

Re: Problems upon problems

I am sorry to hear of your problems and hope that they are quickly cleared up. I have so far not had any such problems with my girls but have heard about front line and have some in my chicken medical box just in case.

Today I lost Clover.

Today I lost my favourite girl .the lovely Clover who was just turned 6. She was a Miss Pepperpot ..like a black rock.. and laid the most beautiful eggs until 6 months ago and then stopped. 2 months ago she started laying again , something I never thought I would see. She was my first chicken and sh...

Re: aren't new feathers wonderful

I think new feathers are wonderful. You have a poorly chick or one that is moulting and you think that they are never. Going to. Be their former self . Suddenly you have all these wonderful new feathers coming through bright , clean ,fluffy and full of new life and often different colours to before ...

Re: Disposing of dead chickens?

If they are not left at the vets , it is the circle of life for me. I have a wood close to my house and they go under a tree.

Re: Red Belly?

How odd is that? My bluebell has the same problem , but not quite so bad. It does not seem to bother her at all. I thought it was where she had been dust bathing which she really loves. Put cream on her ! .. First catch your Bluebell. She is the shyest chicken I have ever had and she has never let m...

Re: Shenanigans at the stables

I have a Bluebell and she is beautiful . Lays lovely eggs regularly and gets on with the other girls, certainly no trouble but in the 18 months I have had her I have never been able to pick her up. If I go into garden she hides under a bush like I'm the wicked witch !
