Re: Not a good few days

Oh my gosh, you're been through the wringer, Gwen. I'm so sorry to hear it {hug} . On the basis that there can't be that much else to go wrong (touch wood), let's hope it's the end of the bad times for a while. I hope your knee gets better soon - bashing a bone can be really painful. I hope the vet ...

Re: Where's Tabatha?

it's semicircular and I don't think I can.
We pushed it open and then pushed a stick across the whole thing close to the hinge, so that the weight of the flap held it in place and therefore slightly ajar.

Re: Where's Tabatha?

Sorry if this is already covered elsewhere, but with our cats we taught them to use the catflap by putting food on the other side of it. First of all we had to prop it open, then we carried on with the food but didn't prop it. They got the message eventually.

Re: Poor old cat

So sorry to hear this, Mo - it's very sad.
He had a good life with someone who loved him very much, and who was prepared to make the difficult decision in order to prevent any suffering. I think he was a very fortunate cat.

Re: No alternative

Yes, echoing Mo, maybe it would be worth having a word with the pharmacist. (s)he'd be able to tell you at least whether those are expected side effects, and whether another drug might be better - possibly even speak to your GP for you. I don't think it's necessary to feel so grotty from the meds., ...

It sounds as though you're healing nicely. Well done for sticking with it and following your recovery plan. You'll be on to pirouettes in no time!

I think a little wuss-ery is allowed in the circumstances! No medals for brave faces, and it has been a serious op, so I think you're allowed. I hope you carry on recovering well. )t'

Did you move the temperature down from 300 degrees or is that the lower temp you settled on? (afterthought)

Re: Christmas cake for 2021

Thanks so much, Spreckly. I think I'd remembered it wrong and she swapped the treacle for the golden syrup as she partly liked the darker colour it goes. My Auntie Ada also gave me recipes for plum bread and other things that I've mislaid across house moves. So sad to lose family heritage like that,...

Re: We'll need a negative Covid test before they let us back

Of course we are happy to go along with it, but it does seem rather futile given the levels of Covid in UK.
Surely this is the point of doing it? The circle has to be broken somewhere. I'm gobsmacked that this hasn't been the case right from the outset but better late than never.

Re: Christmas cake for 2021

My cake was my aunt's recipe, and called a pound cake. I was going to ask you for your recipe as I've lost my Mum's and she isn't able any more to pass it on. Your aunt's sounds very, very similar. Can you remember how much sugar it takes? I think my Mum used to use treacle instead of sugar, but it...
