Continuing the thoughts re mareks and vaccination: I was talking to a chicken breeder today and she said that although a lot of chickens are now vaccinated against mareks if they get stressed or run down they can still get it.

I always think it is such a good sign when they do not want to be looked after, sign of recovery and inner strength. Good luck with her continued spirit :-D

Re: Help: strange lumps

I am presuming it was laid by Marigold who has had to cope with an infection a couple of months ago, followed by a period of diarrhoea which she seems to recently be battling. She is only about 3 years old, but seems happy, potters in the garden and eats lots of mealworms etc at the end of the day :-D

Re: I had to....

Nice to hear I am not alone.... I've had my girls for 2 1/2 years now and never bought an egg in that time till the last week. Both girls have been moulting but are now starting to show their new feathers and promise to be even more beautiful :-D

Help: strange lumps

Please help: I have found an egg shaped, cream mass in their nesting box. It is quite firm but when cut in half is cream all the way through, like solid skin mass?! Does anyone know what this is? Sorry for the bad description but quite difficult to describe, should have taken a picture
