They do indeed live on the coop and not on the hen, however I wouldn't take the risk that a couple hadn't hitched a ride so would dust any new hens just in case

Mine go to bed at last light so earlier in winter than summer, they are in a secure run on slabs so are safe, I don't leave the food out because of it attracting vermin, I do refill the water though and hang that up in the run overnight so that I have one less job to do when I let them out in the mo...

I have buried two in my garden,one of those was dug up a few weeks ago the last batty girl to go was Agnes and I had her put to sleep so i left her with the vet,I like the idea of putting the body out for an animal and I do have some woodland that backs onto my house so might try leaving the next on...

Yep they will have you trained to their ways in no time if you don't put your foot down, mine are only alllowed out after they have laid, this makes it easier to find the eggs

So sorry to hear this, as others have said they do do this sometimes and it was just her time, burying farm animals in your garden is not allowed because of risk of run off into water courses, however I know people do it and how likely is it going to affect a water course in your garden, just make s...

Are Rhode Rocks the same as Bovans Nera chickens, I have those and they look the same,I love the colouring on their feathers,your lucky being able to pick yours up because the one I have won't be touched at all,she won't even come over for treats if I am there,its sad because I am used to batty girl...
