Re: What time do chickens wake? Should they come out ASAP?

I Am the same, I let mine out ( Girls ) at 7 in my dressing gown n willies :-D , my boy comes out at 08.00. During the summer months jus ensure you have adequate ventilation and the your coop is not over crowded.

Re: New Venture

Thanks Guys,

Nice Farmer indeed, but am I unsure of where to start, I will be taking the existing shed with me and some of my girls, but I want to keep and breed rare breeds too, so do I need breeding pens? Or can I use standard coops etc?

New Venture

Hi All So I recently decided that I wanted to expand my flock of 9 hens and their man but the OH said no as they already have most of the garden and I did start off with only 3 hens , so after righting to nearly every farmer within a 10 mile radius of our village, JACKPOT. A rather nice farmer has a...

Re: Chickens & Ducks

I have both Aylesbury and Runner ducks, my Aylesbury's lay an egg a day each ( everyday ) but my runner has only just started to lay ( 11 months old). I have two cheap plastic children's sandpits filled with water for them and they love having a bath and splashing around in them. I feed them layer p...

Re: protecting chicken food from mice

I have Mice in my shed, I like mice, but all of my feed is kept in a galvanised feed hopper type massive bin thing with a lid that I bought at the farmers market when I started out on the chicken keeping hobby, it was a little pricey but no mice have managed to chew threw that yet )t'

Re: Sound Proof Coop

but on another note, your industrial strength ear defenders just gave me an idea, maybe I can give them to the miserable neighbour to wear to bed and then she wont hear him at all, or the birds singing, or the jet washer, or my OH's cheeky remarks, or the kids, or anything else for that matter. Prob...

Re: Sound Proof Coop

good point, we have 4 dogs ( all large breeds) they would spend all night crying at the poor cockerel, well 3 would, one of ours is a puppy so he would just bark at him all night long. I think I will just stick to T & G which will be here at some point today and see how that goes, failing that ...

Hi Bev Good advice I will do just that, yes sadly she is hoem all day with clearly nothing to do, I have not reported her before as I have felt a bit sorry for her as I have seen her sneaking a lot of empty vodka bottles into my recycling boxes when I put them out for collection so she clearly has a...
