Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Thank you, Karen. It has been a sad time and I am really going to miss Wiggy and her funny ways. I am so relieved, though, that she was able to go peacefully at home instead of the dreaded trip to the vets. Despite spending ever more time in the coop, she was bright and inquisitive and demanding tre...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

I'm so sorry to say that Wiggy has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. She has been spending more and more time in the coop, slowing down. I went out yesterday and she was all fluffed up in the nest box, so I left some sunflower seeds out. They had gone when I went out today, so I guess she did venture out ...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Wiggy is doing pretty well for an old bird. She has just had the mother of all extended moults - very down in the beak, which was a bit of a worry. She still seems to be spending a lot of time in the coop, which I think is her feeling her age more than anything, but is much better in herself. It's b...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Hiya - sorry I haven't been on for ages. One thing after another here, not least a total computer calamity which has made it hard to write online Well I don't want to worry you, Sandy, but she's not too good just now. A horrible hard moult is combining with a mini bumble on the pad of her foot, and ...

Re: Sandy's Pink Ladies

Oh Sandy. I was just reading your sad post and clicked on here to say, well, exactly what Karen has said above. I realise you will be feeling absolutely knocked sideways by that, but really please, please don't think it was your fault. You are such a super hen-mum.
Sending you a big hug {hug}

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Here I am! Sorry, the summer seems to be getting away from me. Wiggy is bandage free, at last. Gosh, that was a long run of bandaging - we were both pretty fed up with it. The Big Woo seems to be enjoying the summer, loving her dust bathing, and I get a lot of laughs from the way she sprints across ...

Re: LL's chicken keeping adventures

Wow, aren't our old girls doing well? Funny to see how they adapt to being on their own. Sounds like Scary has done so by becoming part cockerel and being a bit of a diva about her food, whilst Wiggy has adapted by developing a multiple personality and being a whole flock all by herself! I did hear ...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

I can't remember how to post photos now photobucket has gone! I'll have a go when I have a minute but don't hold your breath. Good grief, have just realised Wiggy is 6-and-a-half. We got her just over six years ago. And she is still laying very regularly. That would be all those many, many months th...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Oh no, I'm in waggy fingered trouble again! It's all go here - today my eldest moved out and I am apparently Mum Removals! Just time to check in Down the Lane because Dad Removals have taken over this evening . But anyhow, a day full of mixed feelings and nostalgia. Well, Sandy, your Godhen is full ...

Oh Bob, yike*

Hope all healed now and that the three-year-old will have a lovely time this weekend hunting for chocolate eggs instead.
