Congratulations on the house sale Bob and good luck with finding suitable accommodation for you and your animals. Exciting times ahead for you I am sure. Keep us updated on your progress.
Sorry to hear Giblet is not doing too well at the moment. I do hope she makes a full and speedy recovery from this soft egg issue. Sending her (and you) best wishes.
Hi Sandy - Food and water bowls all over the place and fresh veg every day. Vera will even have a go when they are all out in the garden when there is plenty to do. It's just a really bad habit I think. Thanks for your ideas Sandy. I am always open and appreciate everyone's ideas and advice.
Sorry to hear that you have lost so many girls Sandy. It is always so heart breaking. Good on you for rescuing more girls. Hope they settle in really well and quickly. They are lucky girls to have landed on their toes with you.
Hi everyone. Well I still have this problem with Vera feather pecking (poor Aggie is still bald). I am having to separate her at times as she has started to pick on Ivy now as well. Ivy's sight is not good now, but she is still doing her own little chickeny things. So Vera has to be separated when I...
Lovely to hear from you Bob and glad you and animals are doing OK. I was wondering where everyone had gone!!? Exciting news about your house and I hope you get the right offer very soon. You better start looking for that piece of land and a caravan!!. Good luck with it all.
Hi Sandy and Gwen and thanks for your replies. Ivy is not doing too badly at the moment. She is eating and drinking on her own and enjoying a peck around her run. This morning was the first morning she actually came down on her own from the nest box. Although we are having a little bit of improvemen...
Sounds like a marvellous place Mean Queen. I would love to visit somewhere like this. Only trouble is I would want to take everyone home with me. Thanks for posting this, I found the link very enjoyable.
Hi everyone. Hope everyone and their animals are all OK and doing well. I am having a bit of a worrying time at the moment with my Ivy. Yesterday she would not come down from the nest box. I brought her down and she was very bewildered. She was hardly moving and just kept looking around as if everyt...
It sure seems you are having a very busy time Bob. Also must be quite an exciting time for you with your move in the future. Have you any idea yet where you would like to move to? I expect it will be somewhere where you have a lot of land for your flock and other animals (and I will be green with en...
Hi Sandy and everyone. This feather pecking business is still a huge issue. Poor Agnes now has a bare neck that is covered in purple spray (and so am I!!). I have tried everything from vaseline to anti peck spray and the purple antiseptic spray. I Nothing seems to deter Vera!!! I took drastic action...
Oh Sandy so sorry you have lost your Monica Rose and Blossom. I have lost a few girls with eyp (it is one of my worst fears). Hope everyone else is doing well. Again, I am sorry for your loss.
You are right Sandy, it does seem hard to deter. I have noticed both Vera and now Agnes eating feathers that have fallen on their run floor. They have lots of mealworms and I worry that I am giving them too many. I have just come to the conclusion that they enjoy the taste of the feathers - how weir...
She is absolutely beautiful Mo. I bet you are really looking forward to getting her home. She looks so friendly and will make a marvellous companion. I love cats and we have three of our won. Ozzy is all black and is now 13 years old. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. Lucy is black and white...
I totally agree about the sunbeam Kitla. My girls got out yesterday and old Violet found a sunbeam and lay down in it. I hadn't got the heart to hurry her back in so I left her to have a little warmth in the sunshine. Can't believe your girls are 9 yo, what marvellous ages. My Vi is 5 years old and ...
