Re: New Photography Thread.

Still nothing. I give up. Even if I did it I'd forget what I did by next time.

Re: How does your garden grow?

Like LL I have triffids. There is a tall hypericum that grow to meet the hydrangea on the other side of the path between front and back door. But it has glorious gold flowers over quite a long period (so I wait far too long before cutting it). It's in completely the wrong place, like the weigela nea...

What's that noise?

I went out for a walk yesterday with daughter & her partner. Near the top of a hill we sat on the short sheep cropped grass to admire the view & get our breath back. What was the noise? A horse being ridden? Some sort of machinery? It came, stopped, started again. Not always from quite the same dire...

Re: How does your garden grow?

Neither, they popped up by themselves. Jim used to mow round them so that they could seed. Loads of cow-parsley at the moment, and some cuckoo flower (ladies smock), hedge garlic and a clump of primrose. The primrose clump has got bigger and more varied since I first noticed it, must be a garden hyb...

Re: Swallows

My daughter came this morning to get my tall step ladder to rescue a swallow. When she went to let the horses out it was hanging from the nest by one wing. Hardly moving - breathing but not attempting to get free. By the time we'd got back into the field it had gone, she said its mate had flown into...

Re: How does your garden grow?

Some organisation has declared No Mow May. Nothing wrong with daisies. Conservationists also applaud dandelions, which are welcome in my grass (I used to keep bees so I liked them for early nectar) - but they seed like mad and the roots go deep. I have them coming up between cracks in a path and the...
