Re: Moveable Electric Fencing

Okay, so if I want to install an electric fence as to keep foxes and other predators away, I'll have to make sure the damp grass doesn't short circuit it... which is pretty good, as I was looking at this Costa Blanca real estate for my comeback to the countryside; with the warmer climate, it'll be e...

Re: Have you stocked up just in case?

On one hand, I've got a solid (ish) reserve of rice, pasta, tins and other shelf stable food.
On the other hand, tap water isn't drinkable where I live now and I have to buy bottled water or rely on boiling water at home, and I drink it faster than it can cool down, so that's pretty much useless.

Re: Poor old cat

It's unfortunate that doctors get franchised like they're a McDonalds or something... What's the point for them? I somehow don't think they get paid leave and compensation for "empty" months of the year from the chain, and it just makes them less affordable to their patients.

Re: Chicken Feed

Yes, basing their alimentation around the dedicated pellets is your best option. But then, you can give them what's left from your cooking as well: vegetable peels, leftover pasta, salad extremities... They'll eat all of it with pleasure! Just make sure it remains a minority of what they eat, with t...

Re: Removing Feathers to prevent chickens taking off.

I've never clipped the chickens' wings either, my family relied on simply having some chain link netting atop the chicken pen as well as on the sides. This way, they could fly to their heart's content without causing any issues; they even had small trees in their pen where they could climb if they w...

Re: Growing beans, advice, please.

Thanks, I didn't know about dwarf beans, they could be an option for me as well! However, I'm stuck in a city until next year, would it be possible to sow them in flower pots on a balcony?

Re: new normal '

Well, one of the big reasons behind the refugee crisis is the terribly drawn borders British and French officials drew in the Middle East, and later on, American endless interventions... Sure, Middle Eastern/North African countries aren't innocent, white and fluffy little rabbits either, but no matt...

Still, I'm glad the spammer dug up that old thread, the information from 2010 are pretty useful.

Yes, not to mention that it should be possible to barricade the entry to the room so that your dog can't enter it during the "exclusion time"!

Re: Marking eggs

I can confirm that pencils work fine, I was afraid, atfirst, that the constant contact on the egg shell would erase the pencil marks, but it doesn't. Would it be possible to use colour pencils to try and give each duck their own colour, or should I rely on different markings with standard pencils?
