Re: Advise needed - crowing henSorry I don't have advice or a solution - just lots of sympathy as one of our dinky CLBs does this too. She's a devil for it In addition of almost-crowing, she has a range of annoyingly loud noises and does them throughout the day. Usually to complain or comment on whatever's going on in the garden....
Re: chickens' 'bedroom' problems...yes, mine do that too which means pooey eggs. I've left them to it and removed the nestbox divider so that they have more space. Two of our four have started perching but the other two like to cuddle. We use Hemcore which dried out the poo and smells quite nice. When we went away and had family stop...
Re: MEMBERS CHICKEN COOP PHOTO'S (PICS ONLY PLEASE)Temporary coop & run set-up (which was fine when the chickens were a third of the size they are now). http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii629/Toolilac/IMG_5448.jpg Here's another one, shows the very temporary bungeed-on plastic roofing: http://i1263.photobucket.com/albums/ii629/Toolilac/IMG_54...
Re: chooks getting soakedMine has quite enjoyed getting wet today I think, although when it was realy lashing down they all retreated into the spare small covered run and huddled together. For some reason it reminded me a family camping trips to Wales when it rained non-stop and then the car used to break down !! The garden...
Re: Big nest boxes?Mine all sleep in the nest box and also all lay in the smal nest box (pooey eggs). I took Perhcy's advice and took out the divider which the girls seem to like. They still lay in the same side of the nest box though!
Re: Hens attack my daughteryes ! RIvets on my jeans are obviously irrestible, and I really regreted wearing my flipflops in the garden (must have been the pink nailvarnish!!) ouch !
Re: windows for the coop?wise choice I think. I've blacked out the window in our coop AND still have to cover coop witha picnic rug otherwise we have very loud early morning argy-bargy!
Re: Nearly a thief!there must be something in the air at Wilkinson's. The only time this has happened to me was there ! I was shopping with my youngest in the pushchair and only when I was loading her into the car later did I see she had stashed about 4 colouring books under her armpit !! I was horrified and marched b...
Re: bald bumFatDaddy one of our Black Rocks has lost her knickers too. Firstly we thought it might be lice, and gave all ivermectin. No change (just had to bin 15 days worth of eggs - ouch!). The I tried dusting the house & irds. then I thought it was bullying but didn't know who so isolated FD for her own ...
Re: CREAM LEG BARS??You could try Jody at Raw Green Cottages in Barnsley (I know, not that near to Bolton!).
We got our two CLBs from her last september and they lay pale blue/grey/green eggs. (they are quite flighty though, and one of them makes a right racket !!) http://www.rawgreencottages.co.uk/index.html
where can I buy 'proper' creosote ?Hi there, I have a wooden coop, and want to treat it (and a spare one) with creosote as a preventative. However it seems that getting 'proper' creosote is going to be more difficult than I thought. The local agricultural shop won't sell it for domestic use, apparently only to people with a special l...
