Re: Lock your hens upOh Betty - what a horrible time you've had
Re: Bills 2013 GYO Veggie DiaryI can see the video in both of your posts
Re: Baked Camembert - in the microwave :-)I quite like it with a sprig of rosemary popped in before cooking
(really, it's cheese, I quite like it any which way!)
Re: not going into the coop at nighthmmm - I don't know then. Worth checking for red mite in the morning though. I've never had them (hoping I don't jinx myself by saying that!) but I know that they can be a nuisance to get rid of - and some members here have really struggled in the past.
Re: not going into the coop at nightIt could well be red mite - I know that often people say that this stops their hens from going into the coop. If you go in in the morning with a white tissue/cloth and wipe it around the ends of the perches, or in any nooks and crannies of the coop, then you might find evidence of them. They feed on...
Re: Emily DavisonThanks Richard - I'll watch as well
(I like it when people post about interesting programmes because I watch so little television that I rarely get to see trailers/previews for things)
Re: LBF's 2013 DiaryI'm in Cornwall The ones in the broken greenhouse (which has a glass roof and walls made of shade netting without any glass) seem to be fairly happy, and the spot I've earmarked for them is sheltered, so I think they'll be ok.
Re: Baked Camembert - in the microwave :-)ooh - Mrs Boodles - you should definitely try it. Camembert is lovely, smooth, creamy, tasty cheese, and when it's baked, it's kind of fondue-like
Re: LBF's 2013 DiaryVeggie patch is starting to actually look like a veggie patch now. I still have clearing to do, but am getting there, little by little, and managing to keep on top of the weeds in the bits I've cleared, so it's all good. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3786/8816867643_e4dfbb24dd.jpg IMAG0871 by Little...
Re: Cake anyone?I would love the recipe if you're willing to share Helen - they look so delicious
Re: Cake anyone? Now you've posted the picture, we'll all be round for tea Did you make them?
Re: Barbeque favouritesLast bank holiday, we did big flat mushrooms - we marinaded them in oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic and herbs (equalish amounts of the liquid, herbs etc added to taste) - I soaked them for a couple of hours before cooking, just turning them over when I remembered. They were delicious - I think more pe...
Re: Fair Isle Part 2I've been stalking you on Ravelry and marvelling - they are beautiful Julie. I have an itch to try some Fair Isle, but I'm on a mission to work through my must-knit list first.
Re: Baytril egg withdrawl periodQuoting from this thread: http://www.downthelane.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=40605&p=567436&hilit=antibiotics#p567011" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It certainly seems that Tylan does a better job than Baytril but the other thing of concern is that advice is starting to...
Re: Baytril egg withdrawl periodI'm sure that Manda posted something about this a while back - along these lines I think: I read on an American blog that some vets recommend total withdrawal of eggs because it can make some people less susceptible to antibiotics if they ever need them. Some people do withdraw and some people conti...
