Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Think you are both right Mo and Bob. She is perfectly safe so will let her do her own thing. Roof over run and coops is finished now and it looks really good. Hopefully this Winter I will not be soaked so much or covered in mud (and neither will the girls). Thanks Mo and Bob for your replies.

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Hi everyone. Well Agnes and Vera are coming on a treat I am glad to report. They absolutely love their time in the garden and are so frisky and love chasing the pigeons. It's marvellous to watch them having such fun. Ivy still likes a little peck when she can get the chance but I think Vi is too old...

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Well my two little babies are doing well as we have only had them now for just over two weeks. Husband has even had a cuddle with them and they have been eating sunflower hearts out of my hands - so we are not the bad scary people they first thought we were. They have had a couple of 'plays' out in ...

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

Sorry to hear that you have lost some girls Bob. Hope you take comfort in knowing what a wonderful caring life you have given them and that they passed peacefully at home. Always such sad times though. Take good care of yourself.

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Thanks Karen. Vera and Agnes are little brown Warren hens. I know I am biased but they are absolutely beautiful and a much needed pick me up. This morning all is quiet - what a difference to yesterday (day one). Keeping them separate for a while just to be on the safe side. So pleased that Ivy has c...

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

Terrible news Bob - what an absolutely awful shock for you and the poor hens. Can't believe the fox actually came into your house. I definitely think that lock down is the only way to go at the moment with the fox still hanging about. What a worry for you. Hope the injured hen survives. This chicken...

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Welcome to Vera and Agnes!!!! Well my two babies arrived at 6.00pm last evening. I was anxiously waiting all day. They are absolutely adorable and at 5 months old really look like babies compared to Violet and Ivy. They are practically identical but Vera (in honour of Vera Lynn) has a little bit mor...

Re: karen's chicken diary

Lovely to hear that The Twins have settled in well Karen. They do sound lovely little characters. Aren't they all so different with their individual personalities? Hope you get the red mite situation under control - there's always something going on with this chicken keeping lark. I don't really kno...

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

Hi everyone. Well I have just got 2 girls left now, Violet who is just over four and a half and Ivy who is exactly two years younger. It decision time again - what to do?? After the heartache of losing Rose and Olive so close together I go through feelings of ' no more'. But with Violet getting on i...

Re: Louise's Chicken Diary

RIP Olive - my chief bug hunter. Woke up this morning to find my little Olive had passed away. She was not at all good yesterday and I intended to take her to the vets this morning to have her PTS. So, so sad, but she went in her own time at home without any trauma to the vets and in spite of her co...
