Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?

I listened to someone on radio yesterday saying that one vaccine (Oxford???) was more likely to give side effects on the first dose, less on the booster, but the other way round for the other. I suppose it depends on what the vaccine is made up of. In a way, it is experimental compared to other vac...

Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?

I was fine on the Sunday I had the jab but felt unwell the rest of the week. Mainly aches and joint pain, headache, chills (they were the worst) and feeling flu-like symptoms (I even convinced myself I was going down with a cold which made me wonder where I had picked it up) but nothing serious and ...

Re: Lucas

With the cold weather throughout winter, Lucas preferred to leave the middle door to the living room wide open - no sooner had I got up to close it, out he went again }hairout{ I had tied a piece of elastic to the door handle so that it didn't swing wide open but it had to be slack enough for when h...

Re: Panorama, Rubbish Dump Britain

Apparently they can use CCTV cameras that can track your car number plate to fine you for disposing of litter such as takeaway containers, paper, cigarette butts but the more serious fly tipping is too difficult? BBC News

Panorama, Rubbish Dump Britain

I watched this on tv last night - absolutely shocking. It's clearly organised crime on a massive scale rather than random. The behaviour of those who saw they were being filmed were really aggressive. I can't believe nothing is being done to tackle it. You can watch it on iPlayer here

Re: How many of you have had your Covid jab?

Had my 1st jab today (the AZ vaccine) I have to say that I thought the whole thing was very well organised - I got the letter invite on Friday, booked online for a time slot. When I arrived, there were hundreds of people on site walking from the car park zones (which was well sign-posted with attend...

Saturday 27th February 2021

Well, my 2021 growing season "starts" from today :-D Despite the spring-like feel to the weather (mild and sunny) I know it is way too early to start sowing in earnest but some things can be started off, and I also need to give the garden a bit of a trim and spring clean before everything bursts int...

I'm surprised that the vaccination has been cancelled as antibiotics will not affect the vaccine but I suppose may be due to not risking making you feel more poorly than you are. Fingers crossed the antibiotics work this time round.

Re: Where's Tabatha?

{hug} she's obviously found a good hiding place to sleep during the day which is probably why you can't find her. The fact she settled on your bed is a good sign but still early days.

Re: Where's Tabatha?

{hug} I'm sure she will have investigated the house when you went to bed last night and possibly feeling less scared today - the fact that she came and sat beside you soon after Gina had left is a good sign. She'll quickly get used to new sounds and be settling in to a new routine. Welcome Tabatha )t'

Algae 2 update and buying Seed

The "Beast from the East 2" was as bad as it was forecast - rooms in the house not heated got as cold as the winter of 2010/2011 and it got uncomfortably frigid even in the heated rooms. Thankfully the change from freezing easterly winds were replaced by southerly winds and temperatures have climbed...

Re: How does your garden grow?

So my bin is full of brambles - given the way it tip roots and the vicious prickles I daren't put it in my compost bin. I've been spending as much time chopping it small as cutting / pulling it off all my shrubs. One session would fill the bin if I left it long and curly. It's tiring work pulling i...

Re: LL's Gardening Diary

With the Beast from the East 2 on the way, not a lot going on in the garden. I was a bit concerned that the algae I had bought would not survive so I have already started to spread some of it into partially filled 2L bottles of water and left them on the window sill. I'm not expecting any growth as ...
