Just going on info I read up on chooks before I had mine, one of the reasons for the chooks not going in to their coop to roost was red mite.. :shock:

Mo I'm trying to avoid the whole name thing at the moment.. Simply because we cant keep them all and we are finding it absolutely impossible to decide which to keep (max 3) Each one is so special in some way and they are all just stupidly cute.. We have definate homes for two, One for Tonies parents...

We havent had a 'soft' egg for a couple of days now, and two eggs are laid before seven every morning - sometimes more later on.. Eeee between chooks eggs and kittens its a good life!! :-D )t'

Advice? well chickens are messy! they throw food everywhere and it turns into a nasty paste if it gets wet and is a pain to remove.. so a feeder which stops them digging the feed around is ideal.. I think this years chicks must think that wet weather is the norm... Ours aren't in the least bit bothered and dont bother getting under shelter unless they fancy a nap in which case they do get under the nearest bush and cuddle down.. Hi PK.. I dont think its due to new surroundings... they are now about 19 weeks old and have only been laying for nearly two weeks.. (we've had them since they were 13 weeks).. they're used to the dogs and cats so I wouldnt know what would have shocked or upset them.. It seems to be just one or two ...
