Dust bathing sparrow

Excuse the quality of the pics, I only had my phone with me. Today I spent ages watching a little sparrow (I think!) dust bathing in the newly dug over veggie bed. I no longer have my chooks and I used to love watching them in a dust bath so it was great to see this little dot of a bird having such ...

Ha, well done on your 1/2 lb! How rude of them to make a reference to your weight, veiled or not. Disgraceful! Cheeky b****ers!

Re: Bird id please

My very overgrown veggie plot is proving very tasty at the moment but unfortunately next week it is being sorted out. Will try to figure out where I can put some feeders that will not cause the dog to bark more than he does now! We have a nesting box on the house and the birds are driving him beserk!

Re: Anyone having seed germination problems this year ?

I cheated this year and bought plants for ease! (The veggie plot is over-run and I have a new half size greenhouse to use!)

Bird id please

Please excuse the poor photo. I am very bad at identifying birds but saw this one today and thought it was beautiful but have no idea what it is. It was pecking away at the seed heads and even the dog barking didn't disturb it! http://i979.photobucket.com/albums/ae274/Jemberelli/Garden/08C06E98-2F33...

Re: Summer flowering bulbs

Thank you, having looked on the website that they came from, I completely confused myself! They all seemed to recommend planting much earlier than now, for flowering about now! Think I just panicked a bit! Will throw them all into pots and see what happens! >mmm<

Summer flowering bulbs

A few weeks ago I found an offer to subscribers of the paper we get for summer bulbs, paying only postage. I then forgot all about them until they arrived this morning! It seems very late to be planting them - will they do anything if I plant them now or just flower later than usual? They would be p...
