Re: good lord its cold !Very, very cold here on the east coast, two and a half miles from the North Sea. Been a beautiful day. OH finished laying the new paving slabs (courtesy of freecycle), and the back lawn is starting to dry up, been like a bog all winter, we are on heavy clay. Girls have laid an egg today, and Lizzie ...
Re: Oh bother!Egg yolk is really difficult to get off sometimes. I would have gone balistic if that had happened to me. Once had eggs chucked at our front door, and it was all set hard by the time we realised.
Re: Please could you do me a huge favour?Like I said in an earlier post, Lisa, I cannot do Facebook, but I do hope you win the comp.
Re: 600 girls starting new livesLovely photos Jane, most moving. Do their claws gradually wear down once they are in a run?
Re: A hello, and a question if you'd be so kind?Welcome to the Lane, a wonderful, friendly, informative site, and all the best with you girls.
Re: Chicken been pecked to death nearly...Poor little thing. I hope she gets sorted. When Lizzie was ill last week, Lottie was pecking her, and we divided the run into two, so that Lizzie was left in peace.

Re: Introducing ourselvesWelcome to the Lane from me too. I can't recommend this site enough, so much information on it, so many kind, helpful people. I wish you all the very best in getting your set up going and your girls.
Spreckly's attempts at frugalityAs I trotted away from the cafe in town this morning, after downing a coffee and one quarter of a toasted teacake, I brushed guilt aside, after all, we are still in January. OH's birthday next week (before February), so we can legitimately go out for a meal, our three times annual treat, without fee...
Re: Sleep tight RubySo sorry Jane that you have lost little Ruby, hope she didn't suffer.
Re: Lizzie in the wars againLizzie is still righter today, thank goodness.
Re: What Frugal February's all aboutCompared to family members, we spend very very little. Our weekly treat is a coffee and a teacake (latter between both of us) in a small cafe while we wait for the banks to open. We are both involved in activities which require money to be paid in, and after we have done our grocery shop in town, we...
Re: Superscrimpers - New SeriesI would never put such huge potatoes into the oven to bake, mine are always cut up to cook faster. I thought the tip with hand cream was brilliant, cutting the end off, and using it as a lid. I always cut the tops off toothpaste and hand cream tubes in order to get the most out of them, but had neve...
