Re: Blind Giblet & friends at Chickenopolous

Wondered what was going on with our three when I let them out this morning....talk about COOP TRAINED...it was "spot-the-poop"!! the coop was almost poop-less but looked like there had been a massive pillow fight....no complaints. )like( )like(

Re: Kind vet

There are many thoughtful people around. I am severely disabled, yet every time I go shopping, I encounter offers of help..one young man ran over to put my shopping away whilst I was opening my car door, and at the same time he was holding his baby!! I told him not to worry as he already had his han...

Re: Chicken " GOOSE STEP "

Actually my girl is moulting and has lost quite a few wing feathers in the past week or so. The other two are moulting also, so everyone gets sympathy...Chucks aren't big into losing out to anyone else, eh?? Thanks Kath, I will watch her ( I even managed a tiny cuddle with her today, though she made...

" You pays your money & takes your choice " as the old & wise saying goes.....!! My research on the subject stretches from causes such as Tenosynovitis ( otherwise known as inflammation of the tendons ) which is more common in older birds, to hip dislocation or even arthritis... Su...

Re: karen's chicken diary

I wonder if moults bring out the worst in our girls? my blackrock Katie has become doubly obnoxious during her moult. she has decided to stand guard at the coop door and do all in her power to prevent the next under dog from going to bed....I sometimes push her to the back of the coop so that Mabel ...

Re: Celeriac & Apple Soup

Hi LB I just made the soup today...really good! I had a few carrots desperate to be used up and likewise with some spring onions, so I tweaked it a little....but that's just what homemade soup is all about, eh? So I will definitely make it again. Thankyou )t' )t'

Re: Could this be EYP?

thanks a lot Karen. They are due to be wormed. The other two ( they are like inseperable twins !) are fine. The blackrock seems better tonight, and i think it may be a digestion problem. My husband gave them some leftover bread which I think was a bad idea. it may have caused crop problems. she hard...

Could this be EYP?

My blackrock has not been interested in eating for the past two days, and has been producing a cream / green colour poop for a few days. She hasn't layed for a year now ( she is nearly 3 years old ). Any ideas please?

Re: Chickens eating their own eggs !

I 've recently had egg shell issues, which has resulted in egg breakfast for three girls but not for me.....I bought a tonic called MATRIX a few weeks back. it is a dried stuff but has an aniseed flavouring( which the label on the front boasted would be irresistible to the birds! ) That has very muc...

Re: Library Chick's Chicks

hi LC Really like the sound of Celeriac and Apple soup....if you find a miniscule moment in your day ( between DE shakes and Flub dosing..) would you post a basic idea on how to make it for me please? I think it will fit in the Food & Drink section. thankyou )like(

Poultry Tonic....Anyone used this one?

Am still looking for something to help two of my ladies with their laying issues!! So when I popped into my local pet shop, I noticed tubs of poultry tonic labelled The Matrix. It's a general poultry tonic but seemed to have lots of minerals and grit etc. I was surprised to find a solid shell waitin...

Do "summer holidays" confuse our girls?

Katy ( the Blackrock ) hasn't graced us with any eggs since last Nov. when I checked on them at 10pm last night, there was an egg in the run which wasn't there before we went out at 6 .30pm. this morning we had eggs from the other two layed in the normal place ( coop ! ) i'm guessing the first must ...
