Re: Bargains vs. Saving.

I think a bargain is only a bargain if its something that you need or was going to buy whether on offer or not, if you didnt need it becomes an impulse buy. I agree that buying quality from new can be deemed frugal if the item bought is destined to be used, worn, or needs to be reliable on a freque...

Re: Bargains vs. Saving.

Hi I am probably going off on a slight tangent here. But clothes wise, I adore quality over cheapness. That is why I buy a shirt now and again, jeans, and I have three suits all from http://www.itailor.com/?gclid=CL-a7KeHqK8CFc0htAodK3qjXQ You get Tailored Quality for off the hook prices. By the wa...

Re: Bargains vs. Saving.

I am not known for my frugality but clothes for instance last me ages and ages because I buy quality. Sandals and pumps I buy dirt cheap because they will be trashed by sandy beaches and such but boots that I know I will keep for years I will spend money on You see, Mrs B, to ME, what you do IS fru...

I agree that good quality is better than cheap quality.
I shop the charity shops where I get good quality at low cost.

Kaeta44 wrote:Thankyou both for your help. I've never sprayed fruit in the past, preferring to use Mo's method, but did wonder about trying it this year. I'll give both methods further thought I think.

Good luck, Kaeta44 :-D

Re: What to use to spray fruit trees?

You should spray after winter because of insects and oil based sprays are the best.

Mix 1 pint of cooking oil with 8oz of liquid soap or insecticidal soap.
Bring to a very careful boil.
Mix again and bottle when cooled.
Mix with 20 parts water before spraying onto fruit trees, conifers and shrubs

Re: DIY haircut

Ilona, your hair looks fantastic.
I used the mirrors, like you, years ago, to learn to french braid my own hair.
I trim my own hair and my husband highlights it for me @ £20 per year. :-D
I haven't been to a salon in 20 years.

That's a very nice piece of land, Marc.
I think it's exciting what you have done, following your heart.
I'm interested in how you live; cooking, heating, etc.
