Re: Keeping poultry

Glad you started the Lane Richard, it continues to be a place to find information about various things, even though our hens are long gone.

Re: Chickens brought in first Lockdown being abandoned

This is the first time I have heard about this. How very sad. So many thoughtless people around.

The Crown

One of my sons and his wife bought me The Crown for Christmas, series one and two. My daughter in law has been watching it on Netflix, which I do not have. I have so enjoyed series one and two, and decided to buy series three, which so far is dull compared to its forerunners. Somehow there just is n...

Keeping poultry

I wonder how many of us joined Down the Lane because we had started to keep hens, or had hens? I was in the former group, and no longer have my girls.

Re: Making eco bricks out of plastic wrappers

Thanks LL. I have just re-read the former thread. I still recycle a great deal, knickers, Ted's vest for cleaning cloths, and he used a lot of old cloths in the workshop. At present I have a large amount of plastic bottle tops waiting until I can see the lady who takes them on. Someone remarked abou...

Making eco bricks out of plastic wrappers

Re: Christmas cake for 2021

My reply seems to have disappeared, so here goes again. Thank you for all your comments, and the link Mo, which I have read. My cake was my aunt's recipe, and called a pound cake. Pound of all the dried fruit, eight eggs, a pound of butter, soft brown sugar, glace cherries, etc., rum or brandy, and ...

Re: Christmas cake for 2021

My cake is an aunt's recipe, and called a pound cake ie a pound of sultanas, currants and raisins. I add glace cherries. It takes eight eggs, a pound of butter, etc., etc. For my cake I will halve or third the quantities, as the original recipe made two cakes, one for Christmas and one for my husban...

Christmas cake for 2021

As the cake I bought from As....a was overdone with cinammon, I shall be making my own this year, something I have always done. The deadline was the October half term school holiday. However, I am already buying the dried fruit, and want to make it much earlier. Can any Laner tell me how soon I coul...

Such an interesting thread. I am still disinfecting wheelie bins after collection, toilet handles, etc. Never used as much bleach!
