Apple storage ideas.....

Apples, lots of apples. We have a family apple tree and it is ripe. So we have cookers, a sweet red apple and a russet - all on the one tree! The other tree is still clinging onto its teeny little apples - it is a late variety that hasn't grown its usual large apples this year. This year we are maki...

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Thanks I can't believe how much different my knees feel. I teach that for every pound you lose you knees experience the equivalent of 4 pounds. Now I am living with that as a reality and it is good. I set myself an exercise target and am very close to it. I said I'd start at the end of the month - u...

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

Sorry redd, not opening that, don't want to give my brain any ideas I lost another 2.5lbs, so now I am 4.5lbs off a 3 stone loss! I am not sure that this is really me posting this! I have been so very overweight for so long. I was only 1.5lbs lighter than now when I was an aerobics instructor! So if...

Re: For sale- Papercrafting and Scrapbooking material

You should have no trouble getting good prices for that on Fleabay, redd.

Papercrafting is probably the only thing you could offer that wouldn't seriously tempt me. I'm more a fabric girl myself :-D

Good luck.

Re: Positive about sorting my weight this time...

You won't know what to do with him, Jemberelli. Mine went back to work a month ago (9 months off) and he has come over all 'breadwinnery' :-D

Thinking about it, I have started losing again, fasting without having to think about it. Wonder if the two are in any way linked?

Good luck!

Just looked him up... I had no idea Walmsley was from Blackburn, Lancs!

And the list of musicians he has worked with is amazing!

More listening to do....

Re: Lovely - but is it a threat to chickens?

Tarka the otter had a scene where chickens were preyed upon.

Our local pest bod says they will and do take domestic fowl. But as protected critters a good wildlife fencing or leccy fencing works well, and legally, with them, apparently.

Re: Stewed plums

I open freeze plums if I am not sure if I will use them for sweet things. Stone them and open freeze them then bag them up. But use them quite quickly. I do that with any soft fruit if I haven't got time to prep them. They can sit there until the next time I have an hour to do something to them. I m...

Time for my smug post again :-D

Re: Guide Dogs Bans

Sadly the UK doesn't have a law that allows guide dogs anywhere. " The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) says business owners must make "reasonable adjustments" to make their premises' accessible to disabled people, such as waiving a no dogs policy for assistance dogs. Nowhere does ...

Re: Heating - Frugality v Health

I am a firm believer in the keep it low but constant. So when the weather turned we switched on with the thermostat at 16 degrees. We gave the house a quick blast when it was raining and cold, it gets damp and the walls take forever to warm up if they get really cold. It gets tapped up to 17 every n...
