Thanks SB and H B I know a bloke who can. All Ive got to do is find someone to help clean the oven first ( cant kneel cause of arthritus and oven is on the floor) at least I now know its not going to cost ££££££££s. You lot are so helpfull.

I have a friend living in France who keeps chickens and gets layers pellets for them so maybe thats is the chicken feed youve seen. He gets his corn from the farmer and his run is on soil and he says their is plenty of grit in the soil and he can buy oyster shell. So maybe its a case of looking roun...

I understand builders sand has an orange dye in it. I was told to use sharp sand. But I am a mere female so can be wrong about these things.

Thanks Al, But where have they come from, do they live in the shed like other mites? Every where is kept as clean and disinfected as I can (even though 6 mucky pups seem to prefer it messy) Does the cold not make them dormant? Think I have a chook with SLM I thought this cold weather mites would be dormant. Has anyone tried cooking oil for it. I have been advised to dunk their feet and legs in cheap cooking oil for a couple of mins every day for a fortnight and it would suffocate the mites and damaged scales would fall of...
