Re: karen's chicken diary

Oh you do have some excitement at yours!

Glad it is a new bumble - that's the benefit of having a sharp-eyed human looking after you!

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Having just seen that poor Dory Grey Woo may be suffering from Bumblefoot made me wonder when Wiggy's first bumble was. So I had to look back through my posts and was enjoying a lovely ramble down memory lane (turns out it was 2014 - and the vet was really pessimistic, but she showed him) - and I su...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Hi Sandy - good to see you all had a lovely time at the get-together. Hmmm, I reckon she is about five and three-quarters now. Quite an old lady, really. She is currently a little bit under the weather, just the last couple of days. She seems to be feeling a bit sorry for herself, even more jumpy th...

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

All the better for recent treats, thanks Sandy. We have been spoiling her: sardines one day, corn on the cob the next. Nice cold cucumber and tomatoes get a big thumbs up on a hot day. Wiggy has been drinking rather a lot of water in all this heat and is therefore a bit runny, as it very much were, ...

Poor Mollie. It does sound like she is feeling awful. I do hope the Baytril does the trick and that the painkiller will make her feel less terrible in the meantime >fi<

Re: My attempt to keep chickens.

Oh Bob - what a terribly sad thing to happen. I am so sorry for you for the loss of the fabulous Captain Chaos.

Having not logged in for quite a while, I am reeling from reading of all the losses recently.

Take care

Re: karen's chicken diary

I am so sorry to hear about Tiddly - she bore that illness with great bravery and bokked on as long as she could, because her life with you was fantastic. She was a lucky hen to join your branch of the Henpals, and a very clever girl to work out about the magic food door! It is so sad to lose them. ...

Re: Sandy's Pink Ladies

Oh Sandy - I haven't been on the forum for a while and was so sad to read this. I'm glad you took that video, so you know for certain that you did the right thing (which the rest of know you always would, but when it is going around and around your head it hurts so much, doesn't it?). Sending you a ...

Perhaps the multiple personalities thing is her way of being both a solo hen and remaining part of a flock - she is simply taking on all the flock roles, as and when she feels like it )j; )de: +f+ yike* .ang.

Ah June, how lovely - what a wonderful way to remember Rosie. Don't feel you shouldn't keep posting about her, because DTL is full of people who understand just how much you loved and will miss her, and in fact would love it if you updated with a photo once her rose is in bloom.

Re: Henpen's hens and Eggstremely odd eggs

Wiggy is back and peace reigns once again in the garden. I have had a few days of the good old, loveable, not-at-all-terrifying Woo following me around the garden, bokking gently and staying as close as possible, clearly enjoying the company and being (un)helpful with the gardening. I ventured out i...

Re: karen's chicken diary

I'm glad to hear she is still Bok Bok-ing on. I don't think it sounds hard in the least - she sounds like she is happy with her lot, and keeping her beak in, but you know what a hen who is slowing down looks like, that is all. Your girls are lucky to be in your care. And now I suppose I must admit t...
