Re: Rosie

They certainly do Our Ruby isn't herself at the moment either, she's been like this on and off for a few weeks. She's standing about looking miserable with her tail down and her comb his gone darker on the end. Last week she rallied and seemed her normal self but over the weekend she's gone downhill...

Re: Feather Eating

Thanks Karen, yes just had a brainwave this morning about sardines and I have some at home. They used to have them fairly regularly but over the winter they've gone in when I get home so don't get the same treats.

Feather Eating

One of my girls is currently a little devil with feather plucking from the other girls and eating them. They get mealworms every day is there anything else I can give them to up the protein as maybe this is what she's lacking?

Re: Advice for stubborn Lurcher!!!

Thanks Wendy. No we've had him for 3 years next month (wow that's flown :-D ) so don't really know where he came from or what training he had before. In all other respects he's really good but he certainly has selective hearing {rofwl}

Re: Nail Cutting

Thanks both. They're not so long that they're curling round, we did use the nail clippers to cut a little bit off last night so we'll see how she goes as there was no more bleeding. They do have some paving slabs in the run and are always digging.

Re: Advice for stubborn Lurcher!!!

He's about 8 or 9 and part Saluki which we've been told are notoriously suborn We're trying not to go down the treat route if we can help it as we don't want to encourage him to stop knowing he'll get a treat when he starts again. We do turn him back sometimes and this does work but again only if he...

Nail Cutting

Is it OK to cut a chicken's nails? We noticed one of our older girl's toe was bleeding last night and when I picked her up her nails are quite long so we wondered if she's bent it back or caught it on something when scratching about.

Advice for stubborn Lurcher!!!

I know some of you have a lot of experience with dog training and behaviour and wondered if you could give us any tips. Our rescue lurcher Toby is perfect in every way (well to us anyway!!). However, he's recently developed this behaviour when we're out on a walk of just stopping and refusing to mov...

Bird Flu!!

Re: rat problem

We had to stop storing apples in the garage too and potatoes as last year they ate through a hessian sack to get at them. They also like leather boots I'd put three pairs up in the loft and when I went to get them out they'd gnawed through the front of one boot in each pair so they all had to be thr...

Re: rat problem

We caught another 'Roland' in the trap last night. He's been drowned, bagged and binned! I know it's sad but they need to go from around the girls. They've got acres and acres around us to roam about in peace }hairout{

Re: rat problem

We'd had another little visitor a couple of nights ago as he'd left behind a little indicator to say he'd been there We haven't seen any for months but it was that really cold night so probably wanted some shelter. We have a rat proof feeder now which is really good so nothing for him to eat. We set...

Re: Plastic Bags for Life ...

I was just thinking about those crates from Tesco myself and wondered if people still use them. I have my main shop delivered now and it comes in crates which they put down in my porch and I transfer to re-usable bags and move into my kitchen. It was on the radio at lunchtime about the plastic 'bags...

Re: Plastic Bags for Life ...

I don't think increasing the price will make any difference. If people need one they'll still pay it }hairout{ Not having them available in the first place is the only answer, people won't forget to take one out with them then!
