Baked Beans

We made our first homemade baked beans today using an Amish recipe. Result.......... not bad, in fact, quite impressed by the flavour but although the texture was okay we will extend the bean soaking and pressure canning time. The recipe needs tweaking a bit for our taste but it does mean no more bu...

I have always found that a good curry or chili tastes better the day after it has been made. No idea why!

Re: ... and so it begins

When profits are concerned people are apt to greenwash. I can only agree with your statement I would have thought that using planning controls to give 15 minute cities would be a good thing. From the WEF website (who are behind this concept), "They are mainly a fit for affluent urban neighbourhoods...

I read this previously regarding deep sea mining. https://www.wri.org/insights/deep-sea-mining-explained The "Green" revolution is in many ways "not" what it is made out to be and if Governments want to force people into buying electric cars then the lithium, scandium and cobalt required for the bat...

Firstly, I hope your check up went well. Secondly, it is never easy deciding on getting a new dog. My BSD died when seventeen. Having had her from a pup, she was my constant companion travelling with me wherever I lived (even abroad), no matter what happen good or bad, she was there. It took me many...

Re: Another cracker joke

Not sure what the last onion said, but I picked up some bees today and when I got home I found there was one extra, I rang the guy I got them from and he said "Don't worry, it's a free bee!"

I know that is bad!! :-D

I must admit I am not a TV viewer and can only last the full distance through certain films but my Lovely Lady has just started watching this series and is thoroughly enjoying it, one of the best she has seen in a long while.

Re: Learning Guitar

Yes, if you don't have an incentive to practise (e.g.a class next week) it tends to get left. The problem I have here is there are no classes etc. anywhere near us (our choice to live out in the sticks) also we work to daylight hours so it is often gone 10pm before we sit down and in winter (now) I...

Re: Painting/waterproofing Breeze blocks

I have been trying to locate a PVA glue here for years but no-one seems to know what it is, probably it is lost in translation and they use a completely different term. There is a thing called "grund" here that is meant to seal aerated concrete blocks which is the term used here for breeze blocks. P...

Painting/waterproofing Breeze blocks

A question regarding painting breeze blocks (as they are called in the UK). Can you just paint them with watered down masonry paint to seal them then add a couple of normal coats afterwards or is there a special sealant to coat them with first before painting. Internet is as conflicting as usual and...
