hi Helen, are you thinking of Limestone flour? had to buy a large tub at my local horse supplies shop ( 3 kg ) and it cost me £7. only have 3 girls.... :?

hi all, am cautious in saying that the egg shell is much improved....but two very large and "bumpy" surface egg shells. her eggs have always been quite large, but the shell quality is definitely poorer than last year. Just want things to stay relatively in the "normal" category w...

Many thanks both. She has been quite a regular layer, even thru the moult, with just the odd day not laying. We have had her for 2yrs and she came at Point-of-Lay. She has the best appetite of all three...and that's saying something, as they're all piggies . I do think she is moulting Mike, because ...

Mabel is having an everlasting moult and altho she hasn't been too poorly with it she is laying softies more and more frequently. I have been adding limestone flour to her pellets and oyster shell grit. today I gave her scrambled egg and tuna ( what a life, eh?). what concerns me most is that she en...

hi, I am having the same problem. I have just bought some limestone flower but not sure of how much to give my three girls. Actually,only one is laying softies so do I let them all have some? I think one of them has worms,so could this be the problem and what is the best way to treat it? have put CV...

hi Bob, I also get "bullet" eggs regularly from my blackrock hen, and they are nuisance as I can never close the egg box!! :-D :-D

hi,just been reading up on these chucks and wondered what other Laners who had /do have them think of the breed? We have hybrids at the moment and love them to pieces, but in the future,we could try something different. Some say the orpies go broody a lot. what do you guys think? >coc< )wav( thanks.

Same here! We are in the South and the daffs in the pot are really moving along. I wont do anything with them, I think they are quite tough. Cheers me up though :-D

In between a thorough clean ( bearing in mind that I have a recycled plastic coup ) I always wipe round with disinfectant wipes and my gorgeous ladies are still fine almost 2 years on. Its a very useful and effective means of cleaning. I would add that I make sure that there is plenty of ventilation...
