warning from hedgehog rescue

Post by kitla »

Someone that runs a hedgehog rescue posted on a wildife group I follow. They said they are dealing with huge numbers of strimmer injuries in hedgehogs this year, twice as many as last year - and its only just June. Not only are the hedgehogs killed & injured but at this time of year the young are left orphaned & will also die. They ask that we all take extra care and spread the word to remind others to do the same.

They often sleep in overgrown areas - nettles, long grass etc. Best thing is to rake the area before strimming apparently
