Guess who just walked down my drive

Post by Mo »

I'm used to tabby cats (my Tabitha and one without a white nose), pheasants, squirrels, blackbirds etc. but this was a new visitor.
My first thought was "not seen a ginger cat round here"..."it's big". A fox. Went and stood still behind the monkey puzzle tree with just nose and tail showing. Then carried on walking down the drive towards the house and through the hedge into next door's garden.
I've seen them around but not in the garden, though I might have heard them at night (and when I had hens there were a few raids).
I sometimes see evidence of badgers too, but only seen them when driving.

Though they can be menaces, you still got to admire foxes. They've become the apex predator in urban areas. They are intelligent and playful, except when they get in your chick coop and cause carnage.

Wonderful, Mo. I have only seen one in the field opposite in seventeen years of living here. My neighbour sleeps badly, and has had them in her garden.
