Looking for thick cord trousers

Post by Spreckly »

Years ago I used a certain clothing catalogue to buy my heavy duty cords. I bought several over the years, then suddenly they stopped stocking them.

A friend lent me a different catalogue, and I found what I was looking for, so ordered two pairs. Since then, they have stopped selling them. However, they do sell an inferior type, so thin, that jeans would be warmer. I gave them a miss.

I found some in M & S some time since, but again they too were thin.

It appears that cords have gone out of fashion.

Has anyone come across some, which would replace my existing ones, please?

Hope you find them. Googled cord gardening trousers, but most of the results weren't cords

Cannot suggest where to look, Spreckly.
I have a thin pair of brown cords which I must admit are much warmer than jeans, but I bought them years ago, think it was M & S.
Could you try thick jogging bottoms, they are lovely and warm?

My solution is leggings under my trousers.

Same here, Mo. Thick joggy bottoms with leggings underneath and knee length socks. Keeps out all the draughts.

Long ankle socks , sometimes leg warmers too. And dressing gown worn low as long skirt if I'm sitting (draughty house and I do seem to feel the cold when sat) Other solution would be get up and get working I suppose.

I have ordered some jogging bottoms, hopefully fleecy as described. They should arrive today, we will see how warm they are.

Thanks Manda. Have just had a quick look. The trouble is that a lot of corduroys nowadays are thin, and I have really warm ones! The jogging bottoms I bought are really warm, not very attractive, I have to admit, but I almost don't want to be without them.
