Alabama RotAlabama RotJust heard from a friend that another friend has lost her dog to the above. Horrible, horrible disease and nothing they can do for the animal apart from pts unfortunately. Can cause kidney failure from 2 - 7 days of the onset, along with sores plus more.
Re: Alabama Rot so sad
Do you know how it is contracted - are there specific things to watch out for?
Re: Alabama RotThey don 't really know the cause but the main common factor is the dogs which have caught it have been walked in muddy woodland areas. Skin lesions are the early signs and Vet must be contacted immediately.
Re: Alabama RotWe have had the first case of it up here in North Yorkshire - terrifying! It is in the place where Hector goes for his 'holidays' when we need him looked after. Luckily they are avoiding woodland walks & are washing all the dogs down when they finish their walks. It really is a horrendous disease.
No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell
Re: Alabama RotYes avoid wet woodland and wash after muddy walks etc..
Frightening disease. http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning Re: Alabama RotI have never heard of it. Our back garden is muddy, thanks to the excessive rainfall, but I always dry Angel's feet off after taking her out. It sounds horrendous.
