Maybe that's why you couldn't open the first link then, though I thought people could open FB posts without an account.???

Well, that went to plan didn't it! No it didn't.
She's been here 5 weeks and spending a lot of time looking out of the window. And always appears whenever i go into the kitchen to make breakfast and dinner (and hopefully at other times I go into the kitchen). She has dry food down all the time but gets a spoon of wet twice a day.
So I guessed that if when she appeared for her tea if I took the tin and saucer for a walk in the garden she would follow me. She came out nose in the air, sniffing every twig. But the next bit - that she would follow me back for her tea - no.
It's gone cooler now so after a bit I went in for my coat. By the time I came out again she had done her vanishing act.
So her tea is in the kitchen, the kitchen door is wide open -brrr. I suppose it will have to stay open till I know she is inside again. And if she eats her food without me seeing her I won't know if she's in or out.

And that was what happened. I got stuck on the phone, noticed her exploring the front drive, went to see if she'd come back in and her saucer was empty. But when I opened the front door to go to the freezer she was just passing. Came in looking surprised and I shut all the doors.
If it's warm tomorrow she can come out when I am gardening, she obviously wants to be out. And I'd rather the litter tray was less used.

Nothing ever goes totally to plan, Mo you should know that. LOL
Glad to hear she finally came in and good luck for today, although very windy and cold here.
I always used to feed my cats last thing at night the only reason for that was I wanted them hungry and in at night. It worked on all the cats I have had but one and she used to get herself on the porch roof and from there up to the house roof, so I invariably stood with food in dish on the floor every night to encourage her in. She always did come in, but only when she was ready and that really explains cats perfectly imho, they do what they want to do, when they want to do it regardless.

Very true Gwen.
Yesterday she was out a lot, though I wasn't as pleased as she was, since it mean't leaving the porch and the kitchen door open though I was cooler than I'd have liked.
Today I opened the porch window a bit and left the outer door shut. Every time I go into the kitchen she is either half in or half out.
I keep opening the cat flap and showing her but though she sniffs I've not seen her using it.

Sorry if this is already covered elsewhere, but with our cats we taught them to use the catflap by putting food on the other side of it. First of all we had to prop it open, then we carried on with the food but didn't prop it. They got the message eventually.

I have never used a cat flap, but I am sure it would be worth a try with the food the other side. Good idea FR. )like(
If you try it, Mo let us know if it works, please.

I looked to see how I could prop mine open but it's semicircular and I don't think I can. Even wondered about taking it off so that she gets used to going that way.
She's very good at doors and curtains

Lucas was a bit reluctant using the cat flap at first - there was no doubt food especially treats like Dreamies were very important to him at the time so he was eventually persuaded by a reward. I can remember him outside patting the flap with his foot while I was indoor calling him while holding the treat. These days he dives through the flap head first at full speed without hesitation

it's semicircular and I don't think I can.
We pushed it open and then pushed a stick across the whole thing close to the hinge, so that the weight of the flap held it in place and therefore slightly ajar.

Well tonight I thought I heard a flapping noise before she came into the kitchen, so maybe she is using it. I'll leave the window shut and see what happens. When i see her going out or in she's on the windowsill though.
