Shingles vaccine

Post by Gwenoakes »

Anyone had it, know any negatives about it? I know this is a live vaccine, so would like to know more about it if possible.
I am due to have mine soon and from what I have read, up to 70 years old it is 51% effective, after 70 it is less, but cannot find out the stats and even asked the nurse at the doctors the other day and she didn't know, but said it was higher than 51%, Not quite sure how she could say that if she did not know, but...........

I had it when I was 70. I haven't had any problems.
I don't have the flu vaccine, too hit and miss.
But shingles is nasty
my sister [ 85 ] is still having problems since Christmas with shingles.

Like Wendy had the vacine a few years back. I had no side effects but even mild side effects can't be as bad as shingles which are extremely painful.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

I’m supposed to have a flu and pneumonia jab, but haven’t. I think shingles is only offered to the over 70s, but I will probably have it when I’m old enough.
