3 hens needing a new home - located in Sheffield.

1 warren, 1 bluebell and a black rock. The hens were bought from a specialist chicken farm in Sheffield, so have all required vaccinations. They were bought as point of lay and we have had them a year so they are around 16 months old. All the girls are really good layers. We get 2 eggs a day and in the summer its often 3.
They currently live in an eglu and free range in the garden when we are home. The hens really enjoy free ranging and can demand to be let out (squawking)! The new neighbors are not so keen on them... They would therefore be better in a garden in which they can free range more than just in the eglu run.
We are based in Sheffield S35. I would like the girls to go to a good home. Due to the pending arrival of children and new neighbors we can sadly no longer keep them as our garden is quite small and wouldn't allow for the hens to free range anymore. They are free to a good home.

The warren is really friendly and I will be particularly sad to see her go. The black rock is the boss hen and is a feisty girl! The bluebelle loves to sun bathe and is very submissive.
All the girls LOVE mealworms and will do anything for them!

I will be keeping all my hen equipment as we intend to move house within the next couple of year and will be getting a big garden especially for some new chooks!!

4 ladies needing a new home in Somerset

Post by Beth »

Hello,

I really hope someone out there can help...

I rehomed some ex-battery hens through the BHWT about 15 months ago. My family situation has since changed and I am not able to give them the attention they deserve.

There are four ladies looking for a new home, I would guess they are coming up to three years old. They have all recovered from their factory existence and are laying - probably three eggs a day on average but this can go down when the weather is bad. They continued to lay over the winter. They are currently enclosed in a large run with an eglu but it would be great if they could go somewhere they could free range - we have too many problems with cats and foxes to risk this.

I am in Frome in Somerset, but I do not drive so some lovely person would have to be willing to collect.

Please get in touch if you can help.

Thanks for reading,

Beth

Thank you for your offer of help - found a lovely chap locally who has taken them today to free range with some older chickens. I hope they will be very happy.

I am looking for a good home for our two girls - we've had ex-battery hens for several years and are left with two girls - these are not ex-bats as we obtained these to keep the one ex-bat company that we had left. They need a new home as we've moved house and can no longer accommodate them :(

They are in good health but are not laying at the moment. They will come with the corn and layers mash we have.

We are based in Cheshire (CW8) and I would like the girls to go to a good home.

Please contact me if you can help.

Thanks Bob, a home as now been found to a friend who has an allotment with chickens. I'm happy for them to go there as I know they'll be looked after. Thanks anyway!

I have 5 chickens, 14 months old, from Thornes, where I have always bought from as they are good and healthy. They need rehoming as I am unable to care for them due to health reason for the foreseeable future.

I have kept chickens for 10 years and loved it, including having a super chicken 'palace' built last year, costing a small fortune! I have often rehomed other people's girls, so looking for a good home now for mine.I shall miss them and their lovely eggs.

I am able to deliver within a reasonable distance of AL1

Thank you
