Picking apples, hanging out washing, ironing. Just come in for lunch - too nice (for a change) to be in long.

I posted something last week and got one reply, but plenty of just looking which depending on which mood I am in can tend to miff me and not make me want to post at all at times if I am honest.

I agree totally with you regarding common sense and decency too.

Forums in general have become a platform of the past - the days of mini blogs of daily activities or shared interests which would spark off conversation, whereas most (especially young) people these days just want to see snippets, click on a "like" button and move on to something new (like they do on Facebook) So you end up with an almost generational thing where forums are old style used by a small hardcore group and any visitors that have been directed to specific posts after googling.

And sadly, said forums will remain quiet when long lost members log in, see no-one and post about how quiet it is before logging out again .... )j; )run(

Is there any point replying unless you have something to add to the discussion? Though I do look to see if people have commented on my threads too.

I suppose I tend not to reply to everything because a few years back I was a mod on here and found I couldn't keep up with it - by the time I'd read all the new posts there was a whole pageful more.

I am guilty of popping in, quick look, and popping out again. I always have four pages open on my screen and flit between them. I am on four Face book groups, two of them are quite busy, a little ping pong comes up at the bottom to tell me a message has arrived. Two of the groups are about textile art which I am well into, so there are interesting conversations going on there. Then there is yoootooob which I am on and off all day, my entertainment, learning something new, and news comes from there. Down the Lane has become too general for me, I don't fit into many categories now. I skim down the list, see that nothing much is happening, and move on.

For me it is saying hello to people who's "company" I have enjoyed and who have supported me for many years. I just let them know that I appreciate their contributing to the forum by commenting on their posts.
