Usually Barking Up the Wrong Tree
Some really good tips on there, heard of a few of them, but most of them I'd never even thought of, thanks very much
Gold/White Shih Tzu, Green Cheek Conure
That reminds me - I think we still have some lettuce in the porch (no room in the fridge). Why do supermarkets have to sell everything in 2s. But I never buy chopped lettuce.
I've also got half a cucumber - the second half was half the price of a half (by buying a whole one), so I thought I'd try out a tip I read on 'Which?' They said that if cucs go soggy it's because they are stored too cold.

Heaven only knows. I got a two pack of little gems - so far, so good re the jar storage (but it's not even 24 hours yet ). I don't have a salad spinner so just flung the washed leaves around in a tea towel and then dabbed them with another to dry them.
I read that if you completely wrap a cucumber in clingfilm, it will keep for longer in the fridge than if unwrapped - so I tried that this summer when being bombarded with them from my parents' greenhouse, and it really did work. They lasted much much longer than normal - can't remember the science behind it, but it worked
Thanks for the link to the site. Some very simple but brilliant ideas. When you see them, the solutions looks so obvious that you wonder why you never thought about them yourself.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.
If the lettuce storage is the kilner jar one it most definitely works.
I think I posted about it last year. I was so surprised that it worked so well. 6 days on and the lettuce was still crispy. I will be doing that again this year for certain.

So many great ideas, some seem so obvious but I hadn't thought of doing.
I think I'll print out the best ones to keep.
