Where have all the VHS Videos gone ???

Post by Richard »

People must have had hundreds of them, unless they're brand new and unopened you'd never sell them now.

I'm unsure but I think there's a Refuse Collection pick up problem with them and you are supposed to take them to the Tip, maybe wrong?

Or they're all just cluttering up Garden Sheds around the Country !!!

Ours are cluttering the shelves in the study! We have tried to sell "The Pallisers" box set at car boots this year without any success. I think our video player still works, and OH has put several videos onto DVD's.

I had all ours collected by a charity van last year, as apparently some people
still collect them. (or did then)

Can you remember which charity? I have heaps, plus audio cassettes + video players most of which probably work, etc. etc.

I cant remember now, I'd boxed up a load of books & phoned round to find one that
would collect them. The videos were ready to go to the dump, but they asked for them too.
I read an article that reckons they will become collectable like vinyl is now, so
maybe you should hide them in your attic a bit longer Mo.

It would be a shame to let those go maybe Mo.

There are places where they will transfer VHS to DVD if you wanted.

If taped off the tv the adverts might be interesting to some people.
Youtube has lots of 'ye olde advert' type postings.
I watched a lot of old Woolworth's ones recently, can't remember why mind you, but they were of their time and mildly interesting, especially regarding attitudes to advertising and Crimbo. :)

I've still got a few. Did you know you can knit with video tape? I made a handbag out of it. Used some pink fabric for a lining and added a bit of lace, looked quite nice.

Found it in my Photobucket account. Not sure what size it is, hope it isn't too big. Please resize to fit if it is.

It is quite difficult to knit with as it doesn't slide along the needles very well, so you need to get the tension even throughout as you knit. It will not stretch like wool does. It looks kind of sparkly as the light hits it. Anyone else fancy having a go?

You could use it to make pan scourers, as the texture is quite rough.

I am truly a dinosaur, I have a vhs player , I can record onto tape and watch my many films and family tapes. I like being able to fast forward and rewind and know exactly where I will be. My friend tapes everything on her tapes, always on the look out as where to buy them.
