Newbie query about eggs

Post by Spreckly »

We got our girls, as I have posted on Sunday night. Three lovely hens. On Monday, I had three eggs, I was told there would probably be only two, but on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there were two eggs.

Today there are none. I have read somewhere, perhaps on here, but I can't find it, that the eggs can be in the pipeline before coming to a new home, and I am wondering if the pipeline is now empty, and the girls will take some time to get back into laying.

Any advice most welcome. Thankyou.

Hiya.
yes those you have had were already on their way. Very often a move upsets the rhythm. But once settled they will get back to 'normal' again.

Thank you for your reply, Wendy. I hoped it was that, not something I had or had not done!

Put girls to bed last night at 8.30pm. We didn't wake up until 8am today, and when OH opened up (for the first time), there was an egg in the nesting box!

Glad to hear you got an egg today :-D

When we got our ex batts, just like Wendy has said, they laid what was already in the pipe line the next day, then we had to wait awhile for them to settle and start to lay again.

Two eggs this morning, very pleased with them. We are unsure which of the three is not laying, will have to monitor them tomorrow.

We each had a boiled egg for lunch, from Tuesdays eggs.

You wait when you get like me and you have 18 or so eggs sitting on the worktop so you search the internet to see what you can do with them! I bake plenty of cakes nowadays!
