Fox attack :(

Post by Novastar »

We lost 2 of our beautiful girls to a pair of foxes yesterday evening.

My partner, with the best of intentions, let the girls stay out in the garden for a little longer whilst he went to the shop (despite my saying they should always be put in as it gets dark). He scared off the foxes when he got back.

The surviving girl who was always the pluckiest, hid herself in a pile of leaves until he came home and then ran straight into the house (despite both cats being in there) before being taken to the vets; despite a wound under her wing, heavy shock and the loss of a lot of feathers, we have been told by the vet she is doing fine and they will suture her wound today.

If anyone would be able to send Boo, our little Legbar healing energy, we would both hugely appreciate it.

sad reminder how vigilant we all have to be - I came past the chicken run last night about 4pm and *****fox sitting outside as cool as a cucumber. I have electric fencing but that scared me. Foxes here are much too brave.
Hope your little one recovers.

It's frustrating, as I told him last week there were foxes sniffing around and that they need to go back in before it gets dark, but he thought he was being nice by letting them continue digging through the compost heap >dum<

Oh no Im so sorry Nova. Poor girls. I had to tell my OH off the other day, girls had gone to bed, he got home from work around 4 and 'forgot' to lock the Walk-in-Run. Then he let the dog in the garden! I was home from work around half 4, horrified. Thankfully no foxes and the dog wasnt bothered by the coop. Could have been a whole different story.

Thank you for posting, even though it is terrible news. Maybe it will help others be on their guard.
