Sometimes letting your heart rule your head DOES work out for the best and this just shows how right you were to encourage Giblet to fight for life. I am very biased towards Silkies and think they are adorable hens , I am sure these two will be firm friends for evermore.
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

Everyone in our office was the same yesterday when I showed them the story of Giblet and Mrs Fluffnut.

the vet looked them both over this morning, Mrs f's broken feathers are healing ok,
and she has perfect eyesight (just doesnt like mealworms I guess).
Giblet is confirmed 99% blind, she can probably just see shadows and as
its a genetic defect she'll never recover her sight.
Thankyou all for the support!
The next phase is getting them to sleep outside in their little coop rather than
in the cage in my conservatory with a heatpad & feather duster!

Oh dear, it seems that Mrs Fluffnut is almost definately MR Fluffnut.
Always a risk with young silkies apparently. At least he had a chance
to recover from his ordeal & nearly grow back his feathers, once they've
finished growing back I shall have to take him back & try again, {cry} perhaps
slightly older silkie this time. I dont mind so long as she's nice to Giblet.
I am so glad I decided to keep Giblet, (must think of a nicer name for her)
she is the sweetest little chicken in the world, she chatters constantly &
so long as I approach her slowly she loves being stroked and cuddled,
she likes to snuggle up under my chin or into my hair then goes all sleepy,
it must feel like cuddling up with her mum, it makes my heart melt.
Surprisingly she managed to jump up & perch on top of her little run when I
left the top open, & she can now eat treats out of a little galley pot, I think
she has a nice life ahead of her. I'm making plans for a new walkin run, Giblet
& friend will have there own 6x6 section with as many interesting bits as she can
cope with,.

That's a shame Mr Fluffnut has to go back but hopefully Giblet will make freinds with your new silkie.
I'm so glad she's doing so well after such a rocky start, she sounds like a real sweetie {hug}

I'm going to exchange Mr F this weekend, was looking forward to seeing Twinkle
again (a girl in the end) but sadly was told that she died last night, we think
accidently squashed by some bigger hens, a tragic accident as she seemed happy
& well, I'm so sad. If I hatch again it'll always be with a bigger clutch, it was so
much easier last year with the 6 of them all growing together
RIP beautiful cuddly little Twinkle {cry}
