Stopping lurking, saying hello!
Stopping lurking, saying hello!Hello everyone
I got my first 3 over 2 years ago - got some invaluable advice from everyone on here, and I thought it was about time I said hello! Me and hubbie were introduced to the wonderful and bizarre world of chicken keeping about 2 summers ago when we rehomed Rexie, Weeps and Sage. I admit we just thought it'd be fun to convert our old outside loo into a chicken coop (well, what else were we going to use it for?) and offer some ex batts a new life, but we had no idea how much these little things would take over our lives and more importantly the garden. They would take over the house too if they could, and do try to ninja their way in every time our backs are turned. This site saw me through softies, illnesses, wonky beaks, integrations when we added Cassie and Nugget last year and has given me so much useful advice and tips on chicken keeping. And I'm such a chicken bore, and here's the only place where people talk about them without getting odd looks. Having lost the last of our original girlies last month, we're hoping to rehome 2 more in the FSFHs June rescue, so here's to lots more integration shenanigans! I was a wreck last time, worse than the girls were I'm sure. Anyway, hello everyone! karen Karen

Ace - it'll be the Kettering collection point, northamptonshire. Photos - I have loads of photos, but not sure how to post them all up. I'll do a diary and see if I can sort out photobucket. No fluffy bloomer shots though, my girls don't seem to want to keep their bloomers on, they seem to prefer au naturel! Karen Karen

Re: Stopping lurking, saying hello!Hi Karen and welcome.
In my voluntary work I thought I'd heard of every fetish under the sun - but my Lord this new obsession with fluffy bloomers is a shocker! The response time on this forum I incredible. If I've had a worry about anything, or a question, the posts start within minute usually and the depth of knowledge and experience is immense. Good luck with the re-homing. I'm not brave enough for ex-batts yet but I'll get there. Bea; 19 hens (most of whom I intended to get); 6 bantams (which I never intended to have); old Benji dog and young Toby dog (who I definitely wanted). Three years into country living and loving it.
