One of mine laid alot of double yorker, like one a week, she also died due to egg laying problems.

Only get the very very occasional one and they're only ever of f my girl that lays huge eggs in comparison to my other ladies. since so must be reasonably uncommon unless it's as a result of a problem.

They tend to lay more double yolkers when younger, while they're still getting in to the swing of laying. As they get older and wiser, they don't bother )grin2(

I had one that seemed to lay a double yolker about once a week - and the eggs were massive, as in long (poor wee thing {hug} ) but it was only for about 5 weeks or so and I haven't seen any since.

What I have also observed is that when the girls are first laying, the yolks are quite small but now they take up half the egg space

One of my girls has laid quite a few double yokers and all her eggs are quite big anyway. I do worry about the effect this is having on her though and I wish she'd just lay 'normal' size eggs >dum<

My Deirdre used to do at the minimum of two every week which was rather worrying as their egg machine isn't working normally! She stopped but just over the past month has started again and she is quite an old girl

I,ve had a couple in the 8 months I,ve been keeping chickens. The eggs are really big compared to what they normally lay.
