eeek i hear cheeping!eeek i hear cheeping!Day 21 just for home from work and I heard cheeping! Lifted Martha hen up to have a look as she's sat on the eggs and there are no chicks and no pippings, couldn't even tell you which egg it had come from, I lifted then up individually and had a look but no joy, so I just sat here back on them - I've not heard them since :( what's the best thing to do now? Let nature take its course, leave her on the eggs, take her of them.......? Xx

Re: eeek i hear cheeping! How exciting.
I've never hatched, but I think you want to disturb her as little as possible at this stage. I seem to remember that chicks are OK without food at first, but if there are some that don't hatch after a ?number? of days you should take them away so that she concentrates on the chicks. And put marbles/pebbles in the drinker so that they can drink without drowning. (That's about the limit of my DTL unreliable memories) An expert will be along soon. Sunny Clucker enjoyed Folk music and song in mid-Cheshire Re: eeek i hear cheeping!ooh that's so exciting, they're chirping from inside the eggs! Yes definitely leave
them alone now, its very important that your hen keeps the humidity just right at this important time. As said put a little pot of water with marbles & some chick food (mum can eat this too) within her reach, take a deep breath, charge up the camera & wait!
