Head Girl goes over the bridge

Our last remaining hen gave up the fight overnight. She had been poorly for about a month and the outcome was never in doubt.

I'll be dropping in on the forum now and again but that's us done for the moment.

Thanks to all of you for your help over the past 4 years - it has been a great experience.

Oh Mike, that's so sad but at least she went over night without the need for the dreaded trip to the vet. I hope you will still drop in as we will miss your input and your humour. Your comments have been a pleasure to us all. I wish you well on any of your future adventures.

Thank you both. I will be here more often than I hinted, and might jump in if I feel I can help.

I keep looking up at the top of the garden out of a 4 year habit but no hens jiggling away at the fence waiting for some free range and a treat, happy to share their friendliness and antics. Just so damn sad.

Off topic but sad to report I'm back after 5 days. I got absolutely covered in mosquito bites and as I am rather hyper allergic I began to feel very very unwell, collapsed a couple of times constant sickness so arranged an earlier flight. 10 minutes later my host came rushing in saying a tropic storm was going to hit, with an 80% chance of becoming a hurricane and if I wanted to get across to the airport island we would have to go RIGHT THEN. 20mins later I was in the boat getting soaked then a very expensive night in a hotel feeling like death warmed up then the long trip back overnight. I thought I was going into shock that night so just pleased to be back. Insurance now.

...and I left all the beer there!
