A sad, sad day

Post by Grannyof4 »

The end of an era. My last chicken, Bertha, passed away very quickly this morning. She is a crested Legbar and about 9 yrs old. She had happily lived on her own for the past 2 yrs and even laid a few eggs earlier this year. She was fine when I let her into the run and had obviously eaten but just went down to take her treats and she was laying dead in the run. No sign of any distress so guess just probably a heart attack. RIP my beautiful girl.

Aww that is sad. She has been part of your life for some time.
She had a lovely 'chicken' life with you and that be thankful for.

Oh that is very sad to hear, although it is the way we would all want our girls to go: much loved, elderly (for a chicken), happy and pain free.

I expect you will miss her {hug}

Thank you all. I will miss her, she was such a part of my daily routine. She never had a days illness in her life, which is probably not bad for a posh bird. She laid the most amazing eggs.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your girl Bertha. What a marvellous life she must have had with you and to live until 9 years of age is a fantastic achievement. You will miss her very much I am sure. Will you not be tempted to get any more girls?

So sorry to hear that Bertha has flown over the Bridge. You will miss her I'm sure, 9 is a marvellous age and I'm sure they will have been 9 years filled with love and wonderful experiences for her. Cream legbars are certainly loveable and memorable characters {hug}
